Making Light has Talent! Camp

Making Light’s award-winning musical theatre team is looking for the next bright stars to step into the spotlight on our stage!  Our final camp of the 2024 SUMMER ON STAGE season is a musical theatre workshop designed to train aspiring performers of ALL levels – from brand-new beginners to the most experienced – in singing, dancing and acting for the musical theatre stage. And at the end of our two-week intensive, we will perform a spectacular talent show in the Making Light Theatre on Friday, August 2!!

Rotating between singing, dance and acting classes, campers will learn songs, choreography, and practice acting scenes, from both comedy and drama plays.  Classes include instruction in “acting the song,” choosing and performing a solo or duet, standing out at auditions, choosing a monologue – and how to understand and execute dance steps based on basic dance vocabulary. Curriculum is focused on fun, and includes improvisational games and other engaging exercises that take the nerves right out of performing on stage!

Targeted small group instruction will allow instructors to focus on development of particular skills and interests.  Students will have the opportunity to perform in group music, dance and acting performances –as well as audition to perform a solo or duet song, dance or monologue in the talent show!
