Making Light Theatre is delighted to bring the heartwarming children’s musical, Could You Hug a Cactus? to the stage again! Campers will rehearse every afternoon (12:30 – 5:30) June 20 – July 1 (two-week commitment required) to produce this musical with a wide array of delightful characters, catchy songs and easy-to-learn dances 🙂 Our final performance will take place in the Making Light Theatre the afternoon of Friday, July 1.
Each afternoon, performers will rotate between classes focused on “triple threat musical theatre skills:” singing, dancing and acting. Singing will include the basics of good vocal technique, as well as beginning harmony singing, and more advanced skills “Acting the Song.” Young performers will be introduced to a variety of dance styles as they learn fundamental steps and how to master short combinations. Acting classes help students develop their characters and understand the “vocabulary of the stage.” Each afternoon will culminate with a full group rehearsal.
Campers who wish to spend the whole day with us can also sign up for the MAKE A SCENE morning improv acting camp.
To keep everyone healthy and safe, the maximum number of campers is 18 for this week. Please note that your camper’s spot is not guaranteed until a 50% tuition deposit is paid.
