Salute To Essential Workers

An Art In Public Places project to salute local community workers through the message of art in the environment.

Salute to Essential Workers is a community outreach through an Art In Public Places project to highlight the message of service through a limited edition of art posters. The artwork  titled “Knitting Party” by William H. Johnson dates 1941-1942.  It is an example of service with the Red Cross by African American nurses after WWII.  This image is significant in the medical history of American art.
