Mezzo-soprano Phyllis Pancella enjoys doing a little of everything in the world of classical singing. Her opera roles have ranged from Carmen and Adalgisa to Lizzie Borden and Nero, with major companies in Houston, Chicago, and San Francisco, London, Paris, Tel Aviv, and Naples, Italy. In concert repertoire, she has performed under the batons of Leonard Slatkin, Jane Glover, Daniel Barenboim, James Conlon, and Anne Manson. A highly regarded interpreter of chamber music and art song, Pancella has appeared with Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center, Chamber Music Northwest, OK Mozart, BargeMusic, and for the Prague New Music Festival. Her work with contemporary composers has resulted in many premieres, including the Alice Tully Hall presentation of Argento’s Miss Manners on Music, and she appears on recordings with the Naxos, Erato, and Neos labels.
Galen Dean Peiskee has established a multifaceted career as an accomplished chamber musician, soloist, orchestral pianist, choral accompanist, and vocal coach. He has performed all over the United States as well as throughout the world in Austria, Poland, Italy, Greece, Spain, Cuba and Bolivia. Dean has enjoyed premiering works by Gregory Wanamaker, Piotr Szewczyk, Paul Richards, Roger Zare, and Timothy Hoekman.
He is a founding member of both the Young-Peiskee Flute-Piano Duo and the Cerulean Trio, finalists in the 2016 Chesapeake Chamber Music Competition. He has performed as a member of the Bold City Contemporary Ensemble, the Emerald Trio, Trio Vivo, and Parlance Vocal Ensemble. He made his Carnegie Hall debut in May 2017, performing music of Timothy Hoekman in Weill Recital Hall. Dean’s playing can be heard with members of the Bold City Contemporary Ensemble on the CD “Bliss Point,” published by Navona Records, and with clarinetist Jackie Glazier on the CD “Magic Forest Scenes,” due to be published summer 2019 by Centaur Records.
Dean has a Doctor of Music degree in collaborative piano from Florida State University, where he earned his Master of Music degree in accompanying. He also has an Artist Diploma from Texas Christian University, where he earned his Bachelor of Music degree in piano performance, and an Associate of Music degree from Kilgore College. His teachers have included Timothy Hoekman, Read Gainsford, José Feghali, John Owings, and Sandra Siler.
Miriam Tellechea began studying the violin at age six with Melissa Brewer. She received her Bachelor of Music from Florida State University, where she studied with Dr. Pamela Ryan, and completed a Master of Music in Viola Performance at The Boston Conservatory under Patricia McCarty. She was a state winner for the ASTA National Solo Competition in 2010 (Massachusetts) and in 2008 (Florida) and has performed in master classes for Joseph Silverstein, Robert Spano, James Dunham, and Thomas Dumm. She has been a member of many orchestras, including the Tallahassee Symphony, the Columbus (GA) Symphony, the Albany (GA) Symphony (as principal), the Mobile Symphony, and the Cape Ann Symphony (MA). Miriam has attended the Lucerne Festival Academy in Switzerland, Brevard Music Festival, Schlern International Music Festival in Italy, and the Meadowmount School of Music, where she was a teaching assistant for four summers and performed with violinists Joseph Silverstein and James Ehnes.
