The College of Music at Florida State University is hiring part-time ushers for Ruby Diamond Concert Hall and Opperman Music Hall beginning in January.

 All ushers are required to attend a safety training session held on the evening of January 9th 2020 from 5:30pm to 7:30pm.

 Front of House Staff are expected to carry out any job function management deems as appropriate and within the scope of caring and maintaining for the theater, customer service, audience experience, pre-show prep, post-show breakdown, guest and staff safety/emergency response/security. Evening and Weekend availabilities are a must.

 Job Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Ability to lift 30 lbs and be able to assist with set up of furniture for events as directed.
  • Ability to read small print.
  • Ability to climb steps repeatedly
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time.
  • Ability to bend, stretch, reach and kneel without restriction
  • Work in a fast-paced, busy environment with environmental conditions such as noise, heights, dark/dim/absence of lighting. 
  • Deal effectively with a wide variety of personalities and situations requiring diplomacy, tact, friendliness, poise and firmness

  1. What's the pay for one of these usher positions? Also, how much ushering does the COM expect to have an usher provide during the coming year?
