As Tallahassee's bicentennial anniversary approaches in 2024, the City of Tallahassee is taking steps to create a comprehensive strategic plan that will guide its operations and help shape the future of the community. The five-year strategic plan aims to address the community's highest priorities of public safety, infrastructure investment, quality of life and the impact of poverty and economic development. To ensure the plan reflects the community at-large, the City is seeking additional input to add to the nearly 2,500 survey results received since March.

Input on the strategic plan can be relayed directly to the City via an online survey at Talgov.com/2024.

Citizen input is necessary to ensure that the City continues to be a national leader in public service delivery. Take the online survey this week. Throughout the summer, citizen input will continue to be gathered in a variety of ways as the objectives portion of the strategic plan is developed.

The City Commission initiated the development of a comprehensive strategic plan for the organization and community at its annual goal-setting retreat in January. Until that time, the City's mission, vision and values statements had not been revised in 22 years. With guidance from a 15-member workgroup comprised of citizens and City staff, the mission, vision and value statements for the organization were reviewed and revised. In April, the Commission approved the proposed updates to the mission, vision and values statements. So far, residents have had the opportunity to participate in the strategic planning process at multiple community and City events, including Commission meetings, local farmers markets, Taste of Tallahassee, PrideFest, Kidsfest and the Chain of Parks Art Festival.

Citizens will continue to have the opportunity to provide input on the plan as development milestones are reached. Staff expect to provide a fourth update to the Commission at the end of the summer.
