Funds for Amateur Radio Projects Available

The National Association for Amateur Radio is offering up to $3,000 for amateur radio projects, particularly those with a focus on educating, licensing and youth-based initiatives. Grant applications are accepted during three yearly windows: February 1 - February 28 June 1 - June 30 October 1 - October 30 Eligibility and Guidelines: Grant requests for emergency communications equipment, facilities, or projects will not be considered. Grant requests for ongoing operations or expenses will not be considered. Only programs and initiatives conducted within the United States are eligible for consideration. Proposals for projects with a high likelihood of sustainability or expansion are encouraged and preferred. Proposals for projects with demonstrated support of the local amateur radio community or clubs are encouraged and preferred. Grants are awarded only to organizations, not individuals. The ARRL Foundation may elect to fund a qualified proposal in its entirety or partially at its sole discretion. It is rare for the ARRL Foundation to award an extension to a previously issued grant. The ARRL Foundation does not wish to be the sole funder of a proposal and gives preference to groups that provide evidence of other successful fundraising conducted prior to proposal submission. Funds for Research and Writing in Contemporary Visual Art Available Now

The Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts and Creative Capital are offering grants to USA writers for written works related to contemporary visual art. Deadline: May 15, 2024, 11:59 PM ET Eligibility: Individual arts writers who are US citizens, permanent residents, or O-1 visa holders. Writers must be at least twenty-five years old. Writers must be strongly engaged with contemporary visual arts as art historians, artists, critics, curators, journalists, or writers in another field. Published authors who meet specific publication requirements for each project type. Grant Categories: Privacy Terms Article: Supports essays, magazine features, extended exhibition reviews, and catalogue essays (excluding exhibitions held at commercial galleries). Book: Funds a broad spectrum of books on contemporary visual art, from general-audience criticism to academic scholarship. Short-Form Writing: Supports writers who regularly produce short texts (250-1,500 words) responding to current exhibitions, events, and issues in contemporary visual art. Grant Amounts: Article grants: $15,000 each. Book grants: $50,000 each. Short-Form Writing grants: $30,000 each. Grant Usage: Grant funds are intended for research and writing expenses, not design and production. Allowable expenses include writer's fee, research, travel, living expenses, image permissions and fees, reproduction and copying costs, editing, transcription, and translation. Grant money can only be used to cover expenses incurred after the grant is awarded. Funds for Writing Programs Available Now

The Cornelia T. Bailey Foundation is currently accepting applications to its New ERA Writers Program. Applicants should be registered 501(c)(3) organizations that support any writing genre: journalism, fiction, poetry, prose, blogging, novel, autobiography, book reviews, comic strips, diaries, essays, fables, etc. Programs can include workshops, writing clubs, curriculum-based program, after-school programs, summer programs, retreats, etc. The program space should provide a safe and inspiring environment. The program should include community partnerships, on-staff writing professionals, teachers with writing degrees or who minored in writing, humanities or liberal arts. The New Era Writers Program aims to inspire those who seek to improve their current abilities or find a community with like-minded individuals and writers. We want to provide support and resources to writers and writing programs to help amplify their voices and improve their capabilities. Our Foundation believes that one of the most important life skills is the ability to be an effective writer and communicator. We support programs that will provide anyone with the knowledge and skills to express themselves through the art of writing and encourage higher levels of training designed to assist in delivering clear and persuasive arguments for change and equality. Grants for Arts Education and Development Programs Available Now

The Cornelia T. Bailey Foundation is currently accepting applications to its P/Arts grant program. Applicants should be accredited 501(c)(3) organizations that use performing and/or visual arts education to help: Enhance and transform outdated public school curricula; Motivate and engage children and students; Deepen professional development for teachers, professors and childcare workers; Link school and home; Use evidence-based arts-based instruction; and/or Help to lessen the education achievement gap. The Proposal Process Grant requests from US-based 501c3 organizations are reviewed twice a year. Proposals may be submitted either by mail or by email. Please select only one method of application. The postmark/email timestamp deadlines for proposals are March 1 and September 1 every year. Applicants are notified of the Board’s funding decisions July 1st and January 1st respectively. If submitting by mail, address the proposal to: Rachel Bers, Program Director The Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts 65 Bleecker Street, 7th Floor New York, NY 10012 If submitting by email, send to deadline@warholfoundation.org and attach all materials as Word documents, Excel documents or PDFs. You will receive an email notification within 24 hours confirming materials have successfully been submitted. Proposals received via mail will receive a postcard indicating receipt of submission. The majority of the Foundation’s grants are made to US-based institutions. For internationally-based organizations, a letter of inquiry is required to determine whether a full proposal will be accepted. A full proposal for funding should include the following: A letter of approximately 3 pages describing the organization and the activity for which funds are being requested A separate budget: see specifications under each category A copy of the organization’s 501(c)3 ruling from the IRS; we do not accept proposals through fiscal sponsors Please do not send any additional material with your proposal. Crafting a Competitive Proposal A strong letter will provide: A clear articulation of the opportunities that the applicant can offer to artists. This is the central criterion by which all proposals are judged A demonstrated commitment to supporting artists, facilitating the expansion of their creative practices through, for example, commissioned new work, publications and public programs that bring critics, scholars, artists and the public into dialogue with their work, connections with communities and community leaders, opportunities to experiment and take creative risks Precision around the curatorial perspective. An argument should also be made for the importance of the project(s) at this specific cultural/political moment Inclusion of concrete details concerning participating artists, curators, jurors, writers, speakers, performers and other interlocutors Evidence that the proposed program is not wholly dependent on funding from the Foundation. Avoid aspirational phrases such as “If funded we would raise all stipends for artists” or “with Foundation support we will add ten new residencies…” and use language that is actual, rooted in experience, and realistic A request for funding that is 25% or less than an exhibition’s total direct costs or 25% or less than an organization’s annual operating budget. Wells Fargo and the Wells Fargo Foundation collaborate with a wide range of national and local nonprofit organizations that align with our strategic funding priorities: financial health, housing affordability, small business growth, and sustainability to address these complex societal issues and help create a more inclusive, equitable, and sustainable future. Nonprofits that have not been invited to apply but align with our strategic focus areas and meet eligibility and outcomes reporting requirements may register and submit a Grant Interest Form. Eligible nonprofits aligned to our giving priorities with an invitation to apply for funding from Wells Fargo will use the invitation code provided to access the online application portal to complete a grant application. Grant eligibility To receive funding for any type of grant, organizations must: Have tax exempt status under IRS code 501(c)(3), or be a qualified governmental agency, tribal entity or public school or school system Demonstrate fiscal and administrative stability Deliver services addressing critical community needs Grant proposals are also evaluated based on the following considerations: Ability to measure and report on established outcomes-based success metrics aligned to strategic objectives, which includes providing a forecast of expected outcomes in the application and may also require periodic impact reports with actual project/program results.
