Located in the heart of Railroad Square and situated between two major public Universities, 621 Gallery is a hub of visual art and experimental performance within a growing arts district. With its spacious main gallery, intimate Nan Boynton Memorial gallery, adjacent Annex, the gallery houses flexible spaces for art exhibition and diverse music, dance and literary programming. Promoting the growth and development of the arts as its primary aim, the 621 Gallery serves as a model of contemporary art and activity that has sustained a mission of excellence across its 35 year history.

Our Mission:
621 Gallery was established in 1981 and incorporated as a non-profit organization in 1989. The governing force behind the 621 Gallery is the Board of Directors who are members of the Tallahassee Community with an interest in sustaining the arts in the region. 621 Gallery is committed to bringing contemporary art, artist, ideas, and programs to the North Florida and South Georgia region. Offerings include monthly educational programing for children and adults, literary readings, musical, theatrical and dance performances, as well as participation several times a year in outdoor festivals in Railroad Square.

Executive Director:
This is a Part Time Position, up to 24 hours/week paying $10,000-$9,600/yr
(total including taxes and ss etc)

Job Description:
Tallahassee, Florida’s largest contemporary art gallery seeks a part-time Executive Director to oversee administrative operations for a 2-3 year term, starting March 1, 2017. Working closely with the organization’s Board of Directors and committed interns, the incoming ED will schedule and supervise gallery activities, sustain and expand current fundraising opportunities, and manage the continued development of education and outreach initiatives.

Responsibilities include:
Development and management of the budget, grants, and strategic plan, including fundraising, grant writing and management of day to day operations of the 621 Gallery and 621 Annex;
Development, maintenance, training, and supervision of University internship staff for Fall, Spring, and Summer Internships;
Monthly interface with the Gallery Board of Directors in the budgeting, selection, planning and production of all exhibits, events and programs in the Gallery and 621 Annex.
Leading the Exhibition Committee in the selection, planning, design and management of all art exhibits, including artists contracts, coordinating visiting artists and sales (Exhibition committee selections occur annually);
Oversee the planning, development and implementation of all internal and outreach and educational programming, including working with public schools, universities and city, county and state entities;
Oversight of the 621 Gallery’s Sculpture Garden maintenance, current renovations and educational programs.
Oversight of PR and Marketing for the Gallery and 621 Annex.
Interface with Railroad Square management and marketing team on a regular basis.

Preferred Qualifications:
The ideal candidate has extensive experience in arts and gallery administration, and is seeking an immersive opportunity to oversee all aspects of running a contemporary art gallery. Specifically, the applicant possesses:
Terminal degree or equivalent experience in Arts Administration, Art Curation, or related field
Excellent written, interpersonal, and verbal communication skills
Effective delegation and decision making skills
Invested curatorial experience and vision
Successful background in fundraising
Foundation relationship and grant writing experience
Familiarity with the Department of Revenue for Nonprofits
