Experience the beginning of the story of the Highwaymen, a story of triumph over obstacles as talented young black artists established successful landscape painting careers in the “Jim Crow” south.
Inspired and aided by Florida’s premier landscape painter, A.E. “Bean” Backus, the early Highwaymen applied natural artistic ability, charisma, generosity, and business genius to overcome obstacles and make a living as landscape painters.
