Parenting From Your Heart

If you are a parent, of course your children are important to you. But perhaps you sometimes struggle to be a parent in ways that you truly feel good about. Unity Eastside Church will soon be hosting a “Parenting From Your Heart” workshop that might just be what you are looking for. Based on the principles of Nonviolent Communication, the workshop will be facilitated by church members Angel Eason and Karen Jeong on Saturday and Sunday, July 21 and 22, from 1 until 5 p.m. each day, at the church at 8551 Buck Lake Road in Tallahassee. Nonviolent Communication, founded by Marshall Rosenberg, Ph.D., has been used around the world to mediate conflicts, nurture relationships, and promote peace. The workshop will guide you in applying these principles to parenting. You will learn how to understand the needs behind your children’s behavior, parent effectively without relying on the threat of punishments or promise of rewards, transform power struggles into opportunities for building connection and trust, discover a quality of connection that will sustain your family during challenges throughout life, and contribute to peace by raising children who are peacemakers.
