United Partners for Human Services (UPHS) ​is offering microgrants to Leon County businesses impacted by the May 10 tornadoes. Applications are open now; there is no listed deadline.

Eligibility:

  • Businesses must be actively registered on SunBiz as a Florida For-Profit Business or Limited Liability Company prior to May 10, 2024.
  • Businesses must be located in unincorporated Leon County (outside the City of Tallahassee limit). ​​
  • Businesses must have been affected by the May 10, 2024, tornadoes. ​​

Maximum Grant per Category:

  • $2,500 for Business Disruption (utility services, access to business location, etc.)
  • $2,500 for Loss of Inventory (food, equipment, supplies, etc.)
  • $5,000 for Major Property Damage to the building owned by the business (severe roof damage, broken windows, etc.)
  • Businesses operating in a residential home and experienced damage are limited to $2,000 in financial assistance.

Funds Usage: The grant funds should be used for expenses that have not been awarded/reimbursed or are not expected to be awarded/reimbursed by any other source (i.e. federal government, insurance, etc.). ​​ The funds can be used to cover business disruption, loss of inventory, and major property damage caused by the tornadoes.
