SPED Webinar: Cultivating Supportive Arts Learning Spaces Through a Trauma-Informed Approach

The increasing awareness about how trauma can impact a student’s learning experience has led to a rise in the interest in trauma-informed frameworks, particularly within arts education, which has historically offered the creative tools and learning that students need to make sense of their lives and struggles. This webinar will offer a comprehensive framing of trauma-informed arts teaching that is grounded by a bottom-up approach. Participants will gain insight about the effects of trauma on student learning and engagement, while also discovering the learning supports they can offer students. Through guided reflection, participants will be invited to consider which trauma-informed tools and supports they can readily adopt in their teaching practice, and to reflect on long-term goals for applying a trauma-informed framework in the classroom.

Free for members, $10 for non-members.
