I am a transplant to Tallahassee, FL from Asheville, NC. My mission is to fuse inspiration, style and comfort in handcrafted hats.We are all so wonderfully unique, beautiful and quirky! I want to help you love and express your awesomeness. I am a designer who uses natural fibers to craft hats as an art accessory of self-expression. I use two techniques when crafting my hats; cut & sewn and blocked. When blocking a hat I use a wool felt body that is hood shaped and a hat block. A hat block is a crown shaped mold made from smooth, soft wood. I begin by steaming the wool to loosen the wool fibers which makes it stretchy. I then quickly stretch the wool over the hat block, pulling and pinning until it is smooth against the wood. I use an iron to manipulate the bottom of the wool body into the brim. My berets are an example of the cut and sewn technique. I design the pattern using paper and then use that pattern to cut pieces from flat fabric that are sewn together to make the hat. I am inspired by the ways art, music and fashion set trends and help define a generation. I aim to obtain an edge of timelessness in all my hats. Recently as an artist I have been using the techniques and tools used in hat making to create soft sculptures that are an expression of emotions.

Nicholas Hatt, native to the Pittsburgh suburb of Beaver, Pennsylvania, began playing the violin at the age of seven and quickly developed a unique passion for the instrument. He received his Master of Music degree from the Moores School of Music at the University of Houston and his Bachelor of Music from West Virginia University. Currently, Nicholas is a doctoral candidate at the College of Music at Florida State University, where he serves as the teaching assistant to Shannon Thomas. His principal teachers and mentors have included Lorinda Troxler, Christie Kecskemethy, Mikylah Myers McTeer, Andrzej Grabiec, Paul Kantor, and Shannon Thomas. In addition to his private studies, Nicholas has had the opportunity to work with well-known violinists such as Midori Goto, James Ehnes, Giora Schmidt, Noah Bendix-Balgley, and William Preucil, as well as members of various orchestras across the United States. He has also had the honor of working with renowned violin pedagogues, such as Lucie Robert and Shirley Givens, and has performed for legendary violinist Ida Haendel. Nicholas has given numerous solo, chamber, and orchestral performances across the United States and Canada, where some of his engagements have included performances at venues such as Heinz Hall, the New World Center, and Françoys-Bernier Hall. As an orchestral musician, he is currently an active section violinist of the Valdosta Symphony Orchestra, Sinfonia Gulf Coast, Panama City Pops Orchestra, Northwest Florida Symphony Orchestra, Villages Philharmonic, and Ocala Symphony Orchestra. He is also an alumnus of the Eastern Music Festival and one of the orchestral fellows at the Immanuel and Helen Olshan Texas Music Festival and the Miami Summer Music Festival. As a chamber musician, Nicholas is a founding member of the ensembles Post Lucernum and Trio Azul. His other chamber performances have included collaborations with Max Mandel and Kenneth Slowik. He is also an alumnus of the Young Artist Program at the Scotia Festival of Music in Halifax, Nova Scotia, as well as the chamber music and solo programs at Le Domaine Forget International Music and Dance Academy. Outside of the concert setting, Nicholas has also been invited to the set of KHOU-11’s Great Day Houston and NBC’s Studio 6 of Miami, Florida, where he was featured as a guest performer.

Lane Haugh, soprano, is a native of Virginia and holds a B.A. in Music with a focus on music education and vocal performance from Virginia Tech as well as an M.M. in Vocal Performance from Florida State University. Lane has a diverse background in main stage performance, holding the roles of Patience (Patience, FSU), Calisto (Calisto, Red River Lyric Opera), Georges (Bagatelle, FSU Student Opera Society), and the Officer in Opera Roanoke's production of Il barbiere di Siviglia. Additionally, Lane has participated in many scenes programs performing the roles of Dorine (Tartuffe, FSU Opera Workshop), Mélisande (Pelléas et Mélisande, Virginia Tech Opera Workshop), and Amy (Little Women, Druid Lane Haugh, soprano, is a native of Virginia and holds a B.A. in Music with a focus on music education and vocal performance from Virginia Tech as well as an M.M. in Vocal Performance from Florida State University. Lane has a diverse background in main stage performance, holding the roles of Patience (Patience, FSU), Calisto (Calisto, Red River Lyric Opera), Georges (Bagatelle, FSU Stude n City Opera Workshop).

My work employs recognizable imagery from multiple eras spanning centuries, woven together as a personal narrative. I reference historical imagery from movements and cultures that never encountered one another, yet through them, a common thread is found. Using architecture and symbolism through a lens that references the aggressive and sometimes audacious nature of graffiti. I explore the need to enshrine one’s existence as it fosters creativity, individualism, and the attempt at immortality. There is a desire to be noticed or remembered through an idolized infamy, which leads many to vandalize and destroy in the name of one’s altar ego. My work aims to harness this vandalistic mentality in an attempt to explore the innumerable styles and techniques used throughout time to make one’s mark on the world. I aim to provoke the viewer to search for some resolution within my work when comparing current and past cultural phenomena. The figures I paint initiate a visual dialogue with regards to Man’s primeval struggle and search for an existence beyond his physical limitations, no matter the cost.
