621 Gallery is eagerly searching for a new addition to our Board of Directors who has CPA experience or is versed in bookkeeping and finance.
Board Member Job Description
- Actively participates in fundraising events for the organization
- Participation in at least one special event and/or grant writing
- Regularly attends Board of Directors meetings, committee meetings, and special events
- Accepts assignments and completes tasks competently and punctually
- Stays informed about issues confronting the organization, including: financial, political, and legal.
- Prepares for meetings by reading minutes, and other pertinent reports
- Represents the organization in the community
- Builds a collegial working relationship with other Board members that contributes to consensus
- Works with 621 Gallery interns in a mentorship capacity
- Aids in networking endeavors to support exhibitions, programs, and workshops
Board Member Time Commitments
- Board Meetings—monthly attendance.
- Minimum one hour meeting time. Additional preparation time sometimes required.
- Committee Meetings—mandatory (if possible) attendance.
- Minimum one hour meeting time.
- Special Events—held approximately 3-4 times per year.
- Time varies for each event. Anticipate committee meetings, tasks, and event participation. Board is responsible for assisting in soliciting artist/artworks, media/money donations, set-up, hosting sponsors/buyers, and clean-up. Support is provided by staff and others.
- Board Officer—mandatory attendance at Board of Directors meetings.
- Generally a one hour meeting time. Extra time required to write/review minutes, sign checks, etc. Works regularly with Executive Director(s) to aid in networking, financial planning, and outreach.
- Additional time may be required for orientation, community activities, lobbying, grant panel presentations, and miscellaneous events.

We offer innovative and inclusive contemporary art, special events, and educational programming to the Southeast region!
621 Gallery is a nonprofit arts exhibition and programs space located in Railroad Square Art Park in a former 1940’s lumber warehouse. The original gallery space was established in 1981, was incorporated as a nonprofit organization in 1989, and has existed through the directorship and management of volunteers and interns.
621 Gallery presents the work of 150-250 local and national artists annually in a variety of formats, including solo and group exhibits (2-4 exhibits per month), from September through June each year.
Programming at 621 Gallery includes: literary reading series, evenings of music, theater, dance, and various other performances, involvement with FSU Schools of Theater, Dance, and Visual Arts, First Friday opening receptions, family workshops, and a local resident artist program.
