Mixed Level Hand Building

We will focus on foundational skills in slabs, coils, and sculpture in a series of instructor-guided and student-led projects. We’ll make everything from pinch pots to garden sculptures. Students will also work on building their surface design skills through the creation of tiles. The class will include discussion of clay, glazes, and kilns that will give students a holistic understanding of ceramics.

Experience level: Brand new to beginner level experience. Students brand new to hand building will be guided through a series of projects to learn basic techniques and can expect to complete 4-6 pieces. Students with prior hand building experience will work on refining and strengthening their hand building skills through a mix of larger scale guided and self-determined projects.

Student work will be available for pick up 1-2 weeks after the end of the class.
