Portrait of a Bride, an Evolving Silhouette

Please join us for an elegant Bridal Brunch/Tea fundraiser featuring twenty historic wedding gowns from the extensive collection of Leigh-Anne LaRue Brown. This lecture program and exhibit, which has received rave reviews statewide, uses the gowns as a vehicle to focus on the ever evolving history of the modern American woman, from Victorian Era to the Present. Substantial emphasis is given to the educational opportunities, social events, economic boom times and crises, as well as political changes that surrounded each bride in her era. Attention is also given to the textiles and construction methods used during each time period. Leigh-Anne also shares interesting antidotes from the brides who once wore the gowns.

Enjoy the Brunch at 11 a.m. or the Tea at 3 p.m. eastern time, each provided by Around the Corner Flowers & Bakery. The two programs will last approximately an hour each and food service will take place before the lecture. A croissant spread will be served for brunch and cheesecake parfait for the tea. The exhibit can be viewed before and after the lecture.

All proceeds from this “Portrait of a Bride” fundraiser will benefit the Museum which is this year’s Florida Society Children of the American Revolution’s state project. The goal is to raise money for an educational, child-friendly, interactive exhibit at the Apalachicola Arsenal Museum in Chattahoochee, FL.
