Forgotten Coast Film Festival - Apalachicola River: An American Treasure

The Forgotten Coast Film Festival, presented by the Carrabelle History Museum, wraps up on Thursday, March 16, 6:00 pm, at the Franklin Senior Center, 201 NW Avenue F, in Carrabelle, with a free showing of the compelling nature documentary, “Apalachicola River: An American Treasure”, about the mysterious and timeless Apalachicola River and its tributaries. This evening will also featuring special guest, Elam Stoltzfus, director and filmmaker for the film sharing his first hand stories.

“Apalachicola River: An American Treasure” is a mesmerizing journey on the Apalachicola river system which meanders through north Florida to the port town of Apalachicola on the Gulf of Mexico. Along the way, meet some of the people who live and work along its waterways, including botanists, beekeepers, ecologists, politicians, oystermen, etc.

“There are great places to film in Florida that are spectacular, but the Apalachicola River and its tributaries are elusive and not well understood. There is a quiet serenity on the river, but an untamed and mysterious side in the back-waters of the river. The abundance of textures and shapes, spectrums of light, change of seasons, levels of water, combined with the collection of species that are unique to this area creates a filmmakers delight. A program of the Carrabelle History Museum, the goal of the Forgotten Coast Film Festival is to bring the best quality Forgotten Coast area films to Carrabelle and introduce people to these wonderful works featuring the beauty of our very own region.  Admission if free and concessions will be available for purchase to benefit the Franklin Senior Center.
