The Tempest | a part of the 2024 FREE Southern Shakespeare Festival

Experience a FREE outdoor performance of a Shakespearean classic, adapted to a 60-minute length and featuring talented local youth!

ABOUT THE PLAY: The sorcerer Prospero rules a remote island to escape the intrigue and hypocrisy of the Italian court, only for its courtiers to be washed ashore! Prospero must decide whether to offer magic, forgiveness, and freedom to the island’s inhabitants.

ABOUT THE EVENT: Food trucks, drink tents, merchandise vendors, and more will be available in the Park prior to and during the day’s performances. At 7 PM daily, a professional, full-length mainstage production of The Winter’s Tale will be presented. Parking is available on the street and in nearby city lots and garages. The Festival is presented by the Southern Shakespeare Company, a non-profit professional theatre dedicated that brings fun, accessible Shakespeare in the Park to downtown Tallahassee each May and also sustains a year-round education mission.
