The Land, the Environment, and the African Diaspora Student Exhibit

The Land, the Environment and the African Diaspora is a student exhibit featuring themes in an around agroecology (which includes our agricultural production and consumption practices)  This exhibit is a partnership with the The Lola Hampton-Frank Pinder Center for Agroecology at FAMU.  The Lola Hampton- Frank Pinder Center for Agroecology at FAMU serves to provide an interdisciplinary space and think tank for training, developing, and building a sustainable future for Black regenerative farmers and land stewards. This exhibition presents the themes around the environment and agroecology, and how it impacts us culturally, historically, socially, and many other ways from student perspectives.  During the fall 2023 semester, a call to artists was announced to create artwork focusing on their relationship with the land, the environment, and the African Diaspora. All college majors and classifications were welcome to submit artwork.

The opening reception for “The Land, the Environment, and the African Diaspora” will be held Thursday, February 1, from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. in the Upper-Level Gallery at the Foster-Tanner Fine Arts Gallery. This opening reception and everyday gallery admission is free and open to the public. Gallery hours are Monday to Friday, 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. For more information, contact (850) 412-5478.
