The Historical Footsteps of the Hunter Hill Family and Gloria J. Anderson's Connection to Her Enslaved Ancestors on the El Destino Plantation

Local historian Gloria Jefferson Anderson has spent several years researching her slave ancestors’ journey on the El Destino Plantation in Leon County, Florida.  Her tireless efforts have enabled her to trace her ancestors’ path from 1828 to 1865, including the Reconstruction period.  She relied on various sources such as county records, Freedmen’s Bureau records,  plantation records, and elderly residents’ accounts.  Her story inspires anyone seeking to uncover their family’s history and better understand their ancestors’ experiences.
