Forgotten Coast en Plein Air - America's Great Paint Out

The 19th annual Forgotten Coast en Plein Air event returns March 15 – 24, bringing internationally recognized artists to document the landscape and culture of 100 miles of coastal towns and the people who live here through the plein air process. Their work interprets and captures some of the last vestiges of Old Florida. The Forgotten Coast en Plein Air, America’s Great Paintout, is among the most prestigious Plein Air events in the country and features 17 nationally and internationally renowned plein air artists. The artwork produced by the invited artists during this year’s 10-day Forgotten Coast en Plein Air event will be exhibited at the “Wet Room” held this year at The Joe Center for the Arts, 201 Reid Avenue in downtown Port St. Joe. New work, fresh-from-the-easel, will be brought in daily.

There are daily artists’ demonstrations, “Lunch & Learn” lectures by prestigious artists, receptions and multiple exhibits. With few exceptions, these events are free and open to the public. A highlight of the event is the Quickdraw Competition, a two-hour timed painting competition which is open to artists of all skill levels, with both a professional and an open class, and featuring over $16,300. in cash and prizes.
