The Southern Shakespeare Company would like to announce audition dates for our production of Romeo and Juliet.
Our production this year, directed by former Florida State University Professor Michael Richey, will be performed in classic Elizabethan style, and include professional fight choreography from certified instructor Jason Paul Tate, and will showcase the talents of special guest artist Renee O’Connor (Xena: Warrior Princess) in the role of the Nurse. This year will also feature a Renaissance Festival, which will be sure to help raise our annual event to new heights.

What to prepare:
While PREPARED MONOLOGUES ARE NOT REQUIRED, it is suggested that you familiarize yourself with the audition side applicable to your preferred role. It is STRONGLY RECOMMENDED that all actors read Romeo and Juliet before auditioning.
Actors of all races, ethnicities, gender identities, sexual orientations, ages, abilities, backgrounds, and countries of origin are welcome and encouraged to audition. Actors in “Romeo and Juliet” may play more than one role. Those doublings will be announced with the final cast announcement. Also, please be certain to declare any stage combat and/or dance training or expertise on your audition form.
Stipends will be provided for all roles.
Full rehearsals will begin on March 26, and will be in the evening during the week, and one afternoon on the weekend. After the initial table work, rehearsals will be staggered so that actors will have nights/days off.
The production dates are May 10-13, 2018.
Please join us for this tragic tale of love and woe.
