The Equal Rights Amendment

The earliest version of the Equal Rights Amendment guaranteeing equal rights under the Constitution regardless of sex was proposed in 1923. However, it was not until 1972 that a version of the amendment was passed by Congress and sent to the states for ratification. In conjunction with the Beyond the Vote exhibit, Dr. Jennifer Koslow, Associate Professor of History at Florida State University, will discuss the history of the Equal Rights Amendment and the effort to ratify the amendment nationally and in Florida.

This program is free and open to the public. Florida’s History Shop and the Museum galleries are open until 7:30 p.m.
