Her literary work, Winged was the 1st Place Winner for General Fiction in the Kindle Book Promotions and received Honorable Mention in Writers Digest. Kelly, together with Tallahassee author Marsha Lyons, is the co-author of three mysteries in the Ervansky-O’Brien series each of which were named Notable Indies for 2014, with "Murder In One Take," "Murder: Take Two," and "Murder: Take Three" classed as “page turners." They were also listed by Shelf Unbound in the Top 100 books. ”Murder: Take Three" was one of five finalists for the prestigious Shamus Award in 2014. And Murder In One Take received 1st Place in the Mystery/Suspense category in the 2014 Kindle Book Promotions. April Kelly's short story “Oh, Here!” was recently named second runner-up in the Mark Twain House Royal Nonesuch Humor Contest.
