The Krickets were recently named the 2016 IMEA Folk Artist of the Year and recipient of the 2016 Folk/Singer Songwriter Song of the Year at The Independent Music Awards, the group originally came together to play a cancer benefit in honor of Cristina “Cricket” Russell. Now, they are able to support the cause by donating a portion of every album sale to The Cricket Fund and Beyond which provides women’s health services to the uninsured.
Born out of the red clay hills of Tallahassee, Belle and The Band floats at the melodic intersection that connects folk, bluegrass, and acoustic jazz. In addition to Kathryn Belle’s soaring vocals and powerful songwriting, Mickey Abraham, Kevin Robertson, and Mike Snelling bring an instrumental prowess to the group and deliver a musical cohesiveness that comes from creating music together for over ten years. Woven into their songs’ worldly themes and eclectic sounds exists a clean pop sensibility, which explains why listeners easily fall in love with Belle and the Band.
Members of Belle and The Band teach music and performing arts locally, write and teach for Flatpicking Guitar Magazine, and play numerous local and regional festivals including The Florida Folk Festival, Suwannee Springfest, Magnolia Fest, Suwannee Roots Revival, Bear Creek Music and Arts Festival, Baygrass Bluegrass Festival, Riverhawk Music Festival, Florida State Bluegrass Festival, Southern Music Rising, and Gamble Rogers Festival.
In 2013, Belle and The Band released their debut album “Fallen Angel” on Ping Records. In 2015, the band wrote and recorded the Suncoast Emmy® Award winning theme song for WFSU’s television show Local Routes. Belle and The Band will be releasing their second full-length album in summer of 2017.
