We LOVE to teach kids to sing -- and we're REALLY good at it!  Year after year, our young vocalists bring home top awards, including Best Overall Vocalist, from the Access Broadway musical theatre competition... but even more important than our trophy shelf -- and we love our trophy shelf! -- is our focus on the JOY of singing. Our music faculty are all professional, experienced musicians (see below) with a firm foundation in teaching music to children of all abilities, and every lesson must begin with joy and passion for music.  
All lessons take place on a weekly basis at our Tallahassee studio at 2720 S Blair Stone Road where private students will work one-on-one with a private instructor on a variety of styles of music -- from Broadway to jazz to current popular music. At the same time that they expand their repertoire, young vocalists will learn important lessons about good vocal health and technique which will create the foundation of lifelong singing success.
The 17-week Spring Semester at Making Light begins Sunday, January 9, and runs through Saturday, May 14. We are closed the week of Spring Break (March 14-20), and that week is not counted in the original 17 weeks of the semester, so it does not have to be made up.
IT'S SHOWTIME!  All Making Light private vocal students will be invited to perform in our dazzling Winter Showcase in early January 2022 (exact time/date TBA)!
Private music lessons are offered seven days a week and scheduled at the mutual convenience of the student and instructor. Lessons are generally scheduled once per week and you can select 30, 45, or 60 minutes, or we can schedule lessons more frequently during the week. Private lessons can begin at any time in the semester and can focus on any individual instrument -- or a combination.  For instance, we have some students who learn piano or guitar and voice in the same lesson. 
Semi-Private lessons, Duets and Trios, are another option for students who wish to study music with a friend or family member.  For instance, we have had parent-child guitar classes, vocal duets where friends learned a song/dance routine and competed at Access Broadway together (and won!), and trios where parents started all three siblings on the same instrument in the same half-hour lesson. Making Light is flexible on arranging a lesson that works for you.
