Sunday Afternoon Monthly Online Listening & Book Club Causal Conversations about J. S. Bach’s life and music
Bach’s job as a church musician in Leipzig could be taxing. The local Collegium Musicum and their performances at Zimmerman’s Coffeehouse provided him with a much-needed outlet for secular artistic (and non-job-related) endeavors. Coffee shops are just one connection many of us share with Bach — so meeting for “Coffeehouse Conversations” to discuss his life and music in a historical context is a perfect way to spend a Sunday afternoon. Each month we will choose a different piece of music, and we will send links to online recordings and suggested readings (read as much or as little as you like). Meetings will be on Zoom, hosted by Valerie Arsenault, Charlie Brewer, and Rebekah Franklin.
