Big Bend Poets & Writers or BBP&W is a chartered chapter of the Florida State Poets Association and the National Federation of State Poetry Societies.

Our work is rooted in the belief that literature is vital to sustaining a vibrant culture. We focus on nurturing literature’s source: creative writers. Our mission is to foster the professional development of poets and writers, to promote communication throughout the literary community, and to help create an environment in which literature can be appreciated by the widest possible public.

At our local level, we meet once a month on the second Tuesday at Barnes & Noble bookstore. Meetings begin at 7pm. Many members meet between 6-7pm in the store’s Cafe to network.

We promote the reading and writing of poetry and there are no mandatory fees at the local level. Members vary in age and writing ability; We have had high school students to those members that were “too old to tell” and members writing a poem for the first time to those with published books! To join with BBP&W, all you need is a Love of Poetry!
