Established in 1951, the Tallahassee Chapter of The Links, Incorporated has the distinction of being the first chapter established in the state of Florida and, for decades, has made significant contributions to the Tallahassee and Gadsden communities. Although the list of accomplishments is extensive, I will highlight just a few.

The Chapter has:

  • received numerous awards for its exemplary programming at the National and Area levels,
  • recognized noteworthy individuals in our community,
  • strengthened its involvement in childhood obesity prevention efforts,
  • exposed and promoted art education to African American youth and provided scholarship opportunities to them,
  • enhanced collaborative efforts with the international community
  • engaged, recognized and rewarded outstanding African American males in the local community,
  • inducted new, dynamic, and highly talented members and
  • significantly increased its financial contributions to our community. In fact, over the last four years, the Chapter has awarded over $50,000 in scholarships alone.

Even though the chapter is rightfully proud of its accomplishments, it eagerly looks forward to the challenges of the future.  With a focused effort on fund development and STEM education, the chapter plans to increase its positive impact on our community while simultaneously nurture and support each extraordinarily gifted member.  Indeed, we relish the opportunity to exemplify the basic tenets of our organization – friendship and service – for many years to come.
