Who are we, anyway?
We are a “re-formed” group of artists and fine craftspersons, art educators and those who appreciate art. Our membership includes professional, practicing, outsider and self-taught art makers committed to collaborative work and inclusive participation.

A Short History
For well over three decades, the Artists’ League was affiliated with the Florida State University Museum of Fine Arts (FSU MOFA). In 2019, as the FSU MOFA expressed a change of vision, members began planning to “re-form” an independent iteration of the League, committed to the collegial, supportive, and informational nature of the original organization, and committed to sharing opportunities to exhibit as an official group – now with an invitation to artists across the entire Big Bend region of Florida. In March of 2020, Tallahassee Community College (TCC) offered the Artists’ League a summer group show, and a show every summer in perpetuity, once we were formally established. Then COVID-19 hit and shut down all higher ed, business, and government venues. In 2021, ALBB organized as an official nonprofit 501(c)(4) corporation with the Florida Department of State.

Art for All.
You are invited to join this group again. Historically, membership ranged from 100 to 200, and the League offered networking, workshops, speakers, programs and exhibitions around the capital city and throughout Florida’s Big Bend. A wide variety of fine art and fine craft is represented by the membership: graphics (drawing, printmaking, collage, assemblage), painting (oil, acrylic, watercolor and ink), photography and digital art (black and white photography, color photography, digital imagery), glass, woven bead tapestry, ceramics, sculpture, fine furniture and wood, as well as processes not listed. The ALBB promotes regional artists and supports their personal growth by:
• Creating exhibition opportunities
• Presentations by artists, art
historians, and art advocates
• Workshops on processes of interest
• Networking opportunities
• An annual summer exhibition with
cash awards
• Seminars on issues of interest to art
practitioners
• A professional development award
and group shows in the Big Bend area
The ALBB participates in community projects and strongly encourages interactions with other arts organizations throughout the Big Bend region.
