Evening of Dance

Presented by School of Dance at FSU at Nancy Smith Fichter Dance Theatre

The Florida State University School of Dance will present An Evening of Dance on November 19th and 20th at 7:30 pm and a matinee show on November 20th at 2:00 pm in the Nancy Smith Fichter Dance Theatre in Montgomery Hall, located on the FSU campus.
Originally commissioned in 2014 by the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theatre, an excerpt of Ronald K. Brown's Four Corners has been restaged on 7 undergraduate and graduate performers. Brown has set works on companies such as Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, Ailey II, Cleo Parker Robinson Dance Ensemble, Dayton Contemporary Dance Company, Philadanco, and Ballet Hispánico.
School of Dance Kraft Professor Suzanne Farrell restaged an excerpt from Divertimento No. 15, a Balanchine® Ballet, presented by arrangement with The George Balanchine Trust and produced in accordance with the Balanchine Style® and Balanchine Technique® Service standards established and provided by the Trust.
Suite Dan is a collection of three solos choreographed by retired faculty member Dan Wagoner (2013) and restaged by Rachel S. Hunter. Dan Wagoner performed with Martha Graham, Merce Cunningham and Paul Taylor and his work has been performed by numerous companies in the United States, Canada and abroad.
Gwen Welliver will present What a Horse! restaged on 6 School of Dance students.  The work originally premiered at LaMaMa, in New York City (2015). Welliver is a Bogliasco Foundation Fellow, New York Foundation for the Arts Fellow and a New York Dance and Performance 'Bessie' Awardee for Sustained Achievement.

Admission Info

Tickets for An Evening of Dance performances are $18 for adults, $16 for senior citizens, $12 for children and non-FSU students and $10 for FSU students with ID. All seating is general admission.

The Box Office closes 15 minutes after the start of each performance. Post Concert Meet-Up at Hummingbird Wine Bar

Hummingbird Wine Bar has partnered with the Friends of Dance to host a post concert Share night. Proceeds from the event will support the School of Dance scholarship fund.
