A Musical Tribute: Civil Rights, Soul of a Movement

A Musical Tribute: Civil Rights, Soul of a Movement

Presented by Tallahassee-St. Maarten Foundation Inc. at FAMU's Lee Hall Auditorium

The concert, which is a musical tribute, celebrates the faith, hope and resilience in a pivotal era in American history, the Civil Rights Movement. Performed by The Soul Collective, the event is comprised of four components:  1) the dynamic vocals of Lyrical Lynn Forbes, Deanna Miller and Vonzel DeSean with the J-Rive Music Quartet; 2) a narrator who will outline the historical story between songs (Monica Woods); and 3) a folk philosopher and story-teller whose father knew Dr. Martin L. King, Jr. and who will reminisce about his experiences (Segun Williams). The musical is sponsored by the Tallahassee-St. Maarten Foundation, Inc., and funded in part by Visit Tallahassee, a division of Leon County.
