Russ Traver: The Story of the Path Through the Garden

Russ Traver: The Story of the Path Through the Garden

Presented by Gadsden Arts Center & Museum at Gadsden Arts Center & Museum

Russ Traver’s vibrant acrylic paintings portray dreamlike landscapes, often featuring quirky and fantastical creatures. This collection is part of Traver’s Garden of the Moon series: images featuring recognizable settings that include surprising characters. Through it, Traver hopes to “take viewers to a wondrous land of pure beauty where there is no beginning or end.” A self-proclaimed surreal-fauvist artist, Russ Traver strives to combine the dreamlike quality and distorted reality of Surrealism, with positive expression achieved through the strong color of Fauvism. The artist believes, “it is the regression of the mind into the past by which we discover images of the future.”
