Created Equal: Stretching Towards Freedom, A Conversation about Florida Emancipation Day

Presented by The Village Square at Online/Virtual Space

Leon County Government, The Village Square and Tallahassee Museum cordially invite you to join us in commemorating the 156th anniversary of Florida's Emancipation Day at the 6th Annual Created Equal event.

This year, Created Equal will feature important voices not only from Tallahassee but the entire state of Florida.  Meet historians Dr. Larry Rivers from Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University and Dr. Paul Ortiz from the University of Florida, as well as Founder of the John G. Riley House —and a true local, state and national treasure — Althemese Barnes. Our long-time partner Keith Simmons of Florida Humanities will facilitate the conversation.  Musical performances by Royce Lovett and the Godby High School choir.

Join us virtually as we commemorate this important day and the legacy of freedom, and consider our generation’s work still to do — as we continue to stretch toward freedom.
