We invite you to attend the fifth and final concert for the 2020-2021 Online Concert Series for The Artist Series of Tallahassee, featuring Amy Schwartz Moretti, violin and Andrew Armstrong, piano. Amy Schwartz Moretti has a musical career of broad versatility that spans nearly two decades. Former Concertmaster of the Oregon Symphony and Florida Orchestra, Amy has served as Guest Concertmaster for the symphony orchestras of Houston, Pittsburgh, Atlanta, City Music Cleveland, New York Pops and Hawaii Pops, and the festival orchestras of Brevard, Colorado and Grand Teton. Director of the McDuffie Center for Strings since its inception in the Mercer University Townsend School of Music, Ms. Moretti developed the Fabian Concert Series and holds the Caroline Paul King Chair in Strings. A performing artist with an affinity for chamber music, Amy maintains an active schedule of solo, chamber and concertmaster appearances and is a member of the Ehnes Quartet and Cortona Trio. She has recorded for Chandos, Harmonia Mundi, Onyx Classics, CBC Records, BCMF/Naxos and Sono Luminus. The Cleveland Institute of Music recognized her with an Alumni Achievement Award and she is the 2014 San Francisco Conservatory of Music Fanfare Honoree. Amy lives in Georgia with her husband and two sons, enjoying all aspects of motherhood, especially their soccer and tennis activities. Praised by critics for his passionate expression and dazzling technique, pianist Andrew Armstrong has delighted audiences across Asia, Europe, Latin America, Canada, and the USA in performances at Alice Tully Hall, Carnegie Hall, the Kennedy Center, the Grand Hall of the Moscow Conservatory, and Warsaw’s National Philharmonic. Andrew’s orchestral engagements across the globe have seen him perform a sprawling repertoire of more than 50 concertos with orchestra. He has performed with such conductors as Peter Oundjian, Itzhak Perlman, Günther Herbig, Stefan Sanderling, Jean-Marie Zeitouni, and Stanislaw Skrowaczewski, and has appeared in solo recitals in chamber music concerts with the Elias, Alexander, American, and Manhattan String Quartets. Andrew and violinist James Ehnes teamed up to record the complete cycle of ten Beethoven Violin Sonatas to celebrate the master’s 250th birthday in 2020. On top of his performance activities, Andrew serves as Artistic Director of Columbia Museum of Art’s Chamber Music on Main series in South Carolina. Andrew is devoted to outreach programs and playing for children. His performances are heard regularly on National Public Radio and WQXR, New York City’s premier classical music station. Mr. Armstrong lives happily in Massachusetts, with his wife Esty, their three children Jack, Elise, and Gabriel, and their two dogs Comet and Dooker.
