Work for a Living

Work for a Living

Presented by White Mouse Theatre Productions at Online/Virtual Space

Work for a Living centers around a workers' struggle to determine their own value and gain equal ownership of the means of production. Through the introduction of an outside agent and new worker in Jay, the workers of Unit 106-C discover that they are able to produce more effectively and efficiently under their own control and without top-down interference from the rules that dictate the factory’s operations.

The aim of this project is to understand if there is an effective way to educate an audience and production team to expose our own reality through this form, or if real stories with historical merit and value outweigh the benefits through more tangible and factual information. With the advancement of technology ushering in a digital age like never before, media and art have an incredible power to influence their massive audiences, and my project will analyze and determine if dystopian fictions are able to counteract their structural limits and use as propaganda.
