Shared Legacies Film and Panel Discussion

Presented by Holocaust Education Resource Council at Online/Virtual Space

The Holocaust Education Resource Council and Hillel at Florida State University (FSU) invite you to watch Shared Legacies: The African-American Jewish Civil Rights Alliance (Feb. 23-25) on Vimeo and join for a panel discussion over Zoom on February 25, at 6:30 pm EST.

In Shared Legacies: The African-American Jewish Civil Rights Alliance, Director Shari Rogers tells the true and powerful story of a coalition of African and Jewish communities during the Civil Rights era. The film brings the systemic issues of slavery, the Holocaust, police brutality, and the rise of anti-Semitism and anti-Black racism to the fore. This insightful documentary expresses the power that communities have when they lock arms in solidarity.

Invited panelists include:

Doby Flowers: integration pioneer, and FSU’s first Black Homecoming Queen
Dr. Davis Houck, Fannie Lou Hamer Professor of Rhetorical Studies at FSU
Nik Harris: FAMU and FSU law graduate, LGBTQattorney, activist.

The film screens on Vimeo from February 23rd - 25th and the panel discussion is February 25, 2021, at 6:30 pm EST over Zoom Webinar. Both links will be made available to registrants.
