Join Leon County and the National Endowment for the Arts Big Read Kickoff on the International Day of Women and Girls in Science for an inspiring Library Lecture featuring local scientist and educator, Dr. Adrienne Stephenson. Keynote speaker Dr. Stephenson will lead a discussion of her personal journey as a Black woman in STEM and how her intersecting passions help to change the narrative of science education empowering young people to discover their highest potential. Dr. Adrienne Stephenson will be joined by Dr. Lataisia Jones to further the discussion on empowering youth in STEM.

This Library Lecture kicks off the NEA Big Read, Lab Girl by Hope Jahren, an award-winning autobiography about her life in science and battle with mental health issues.
