Faculty Chamber Recital - Heidi Louise Williams, piano and Gregory Sauer, cello

On Tuesday, February 23, 2021, Florida State University College of Music Professor of Cello Gregory Sauer and Associate Professor of Piano Heidi Louise Williams will present "Mirrored: Contemporary North and South American Duos for Piano and Cello." This dynamic performance of twentieth and twenty-first century North and South American masterpieces will include the world premiere of Grande Baião II (2020), composed for Sauer and Williams by Brazilian pianist, composer, and arranger, André Mehmari.   Works on the program include Walker's Sonata for Cello & Piano (1957); Mehmari's Grande Baião II for Violoncello and Piano (2020); Crozier's Nocturne for Cello & Piano (1997); Guarnieri's Sonata No. 2 for Cello & Piano (1955); Zwilich's Lament for Cello & Piano (1999); Guerra-Peixe's Três Peças (1957); and Barber's Sonata for Cello & Piano, Op. 6 (1932).
