In light of the police shootings of Mike Brown in Ferguson, Missouri and John Crawford III in Beavercreek, Ohio, among others, The NBF commissioned seven emerging black playwrights to write monologues that explore their feelings about the well-being of black people in a culture of institutional profiling. The result is a raw, honest collection of stories that are vital for all of us to focus our spotlight on. The New Black Fest’s Hands Up: 7 Playwrights, 7 Testaments contains mature language as well as content about assault which may be triggering to some people. Recommend Age: 17+.
