The Encore Band performs an entire show of the music of Willie Nelson, including all the classic hits that he recorded and made popular in swing, jazz, country, blues, pop and rock.
In 1996 while playing for a wedding, a request was made to play a “Willie Song” which the band immediately began to play a classic, Blue Eyes Crying in the Rain. One of the guests came up and stood in front of the band and pointed out, that sounds exactly like Willie himself. As the years rolled on, Encore began to do many songs in the Nelson style, and now preforms an entire show of the music of Willie Nelson. Included in the show are all the classic hits that he recorded and made popular in swing, jazz, country, blues, pop and rock.
The musicians are a collection of players from all backgrounds and includes Ronnie Weeks on drums and vocals, Myron Spainhour on Keyboards, Wendell Purvis on Guitar, Ray Wiley on the pedal steel and guitar, Frank Purvis on Bass guitar, and legendary fiddle player, Wayne Martin. Willie is portrayed by Mike Purvis with songs , jokes and just plain old good-time music. It is not unusual to turn the band loose for some special treats such as a hoedown fiddle tune, or and amazing solo by drummer Ronnie Weeks.
Good music, clean jokes, and a spacious, open venue are sure to create a night to remember.
