We Who Speak for the Earth: An Earth Day Poetry Infusion

We Who Speak for the Earth: An Earth Day Poetry Infusion

Presented by Big Bend Poets & Writers at Online/Virtual Space

The convergence of the National Poetry Month and the 50th Anniversary of Earth Day finds 100 Thousand Poets for Change and Big Bend Poets & Writers spinning with possibilities for ways to bring us together and share our voices while remaining socially apart.  So we are launching a special event for poets everywhere to contribute their poems and very short stories, written or in video format, starting Wednesday, April 1 and continuing until Wednesday, April 22. Whatever your poetic or literary style, write about the Earth, your love, appreciation, and gratitude for this miraculous planet we call home, and which indeed is our only home!  We hope to see spiritual, indigenous, visual, sensual, erotic, philosophical, romantic, and lyrical writings, plus rants and raves, rap & hip hop; whatever moves you, gets your mind dancing and blood racing! This is an inclusive celebratory, literary event. Let’s raise our pens and voices, infuse the internet, and Speak for the Earth!   Before or by April 21 at 12 P.M., please submit your own earth poem, or short story, or a video reading your poem or short story (fiction or non-fiction) or one of your favorites by another poet or author on Facebook at either: 100ThousandPoetsForChangePage with the label #SpeakForTheEarth  OR BigBendPoetsandWriters with the label #SpeakForTheEarth. Submission guidelines for Facebook post: Poems should be limited to 32 lines, or one page in length.  Any line composition is fine.   Poetry videos should be between 2-3 minutes maximum. in viewing time.
