We welcome you to come on Tuesday, March 3rd for our Open Mic Night at 7:00 PM! Sign up on arrival for a ten-minute spot to share your original poetry, prose, or story—you can even bring a selection from your favorite poet/author! So, come on over—share your words, meet local poets, and make some wonderful new friends!

Mary Jane Ryals and Carol Lynne Knight will be reading from their latest chapbook, Poesia: From Via Ghibellina to Skyland Drive that is a correspondence of poems. These poets kept in touch through their poetry while Ryals was visiting Italy and Knight was at home in Tallahassee. They began their correspondence with no expectations and no formal structure, knowing they wanted to keep in touch through poems. Mostly, the writing plays off the preceding poem in some way – but they go in some surprising directions. We hope you’ll come out and hear them read from Poesia on Tuesday, March 3rd; you’re sure to be delighted! We’ll have copies available for purchase and opportunities for autographs.

If you don’t know her, our lovely host, Linda Marie holds an MFA in painting with a minor in Women’s Studies from the University of South Florida, and a BFA from the University of Hawaii. She is a symbolist painter, writer, poet, and playwright. Before moving to Tallahassee, she was the host of Austin Poetry Society’s monthly poetry venue for 6 years. She is enjoying meeting and introducing many local poets, storytellers, as well as writers here in Tally! We are currently featuring Linda Marie’s artwork in the store, so be sure to take a look next time you’re in!
