Valdosta State Art Professor exhibits at TCC
Kalina Wińska is an Associate Professor of Art at Valdosta State University teaching Drawing and other foundation courses. A native of Poland, she has studied in both Europe and the U.S. and exhibits widely on both continents. She states: “My inspirations come often from microscopy or weather radar imagery, diagrammatic illustration, weather surface analysis data, and repetitive nature of scientific methods. Repeating and layering simple marks, shapes, and symbols, the use of natural and synthetic color, reflective, or translucent surfaces all reminiscence various ways we devised to visually interpret natural phenomena.
Drawing is a primary discipline I teach as well as the chosen medium of concentration in my professional research. My research focuses on contemporary and experimental practices that stretch the boundaries of the medium of drawing, its formal and conceptual possibilities.”
