"S.T.E.A.Ming  Up History with Wax Figures"
Learn the connection through these wax figures in an exhibit that integrates African American history and S.T.E.A.M. (Science, Technology, Engineering Arts, Mathematics) as a learning tool for our local students and the public on February 7&8, 2020.  This 2 day exhibit features 8 influential African American wax figures to be displayed in "S.T.E.A.M.ing Up History with Wax Figures":
Granville T. Woods – Inventor  in Electronics, Transportation and Telecommunication Industry
George Washington Carver - Agricultural Research Genius
Norbert Rillieux - Inventor and Engineer
Mary Eliza Mahoney - First Licensed African American Nurse
Benjamin Banneker - Almanac Author, Surveyor, Farmer
Zora Neal Hurston - Author/Anthropologist
Billie Holiday - Jazz Singer
Dr. Daniel Hale Williams - Surgeon and Cardiologist
A $10 entry fee (kids 18 & under are FREE) includes a guided tour by National Great Blacks in Wax Museum creator Dr. Joanne Martin of Baltimore, Maryland. Tours begin every hour from 9am-5pm. Saturday February 8th, 6pm-8pm join HCA for a special reception fundraiser with special guest Dr. Martin, live music from Bernard Simmons Band, food and drinks. $20 tickets for this special event. All proceeds go to bringing the National Great Blacks In Wax Traveling Exhibit to Apalachicola.
