MFA Concert: Rules of Engagement 2.0

MFA Concert: Rules of Engagement 2.0

Presented by School of Dance at FSU at Montgomery Hall

MFA candidate Aigars 'Salamandra' Larionovs will present a dance performance entitled Rules of Engagement 2.0, in partial fulfillment of the Master of Fine Arts Degree in Dance, on January 31st, 2020 at 7:30 p.m. and February 1st, 2020 at 5:00 p.m. at Grande Studio (Studio 215) in Montgomery Hall, 130 Collegiate Loop, Tallahassee, FL 32304.

Come with us on a movement journey though the conversation between the spontaneous and calculated, the traditional and contemporary. Rules of Engagement is the product of a two year research process, paired with a lifetime of experiences. Drawing on the ideas of Capoeira (an Afro-Brazilian movement culture) and Martial arts principles, the project investigates in the moment problem-solving skills and how the cast can navigate the constantly shifting rules set for them. This work features a original musical composition by FSU College of Music Doctoral student Aaron Houston. We encourage you to arrive early and enjoy the visual arts installation made for the project by FSU College of Fine Arts Adjunct Professor Austin Yorke.

Admission is free. For more information about the School of Dance, call La Toya Davis-Craig at (850) 645-2449 or email ldavis3@fsu.edu. The School of Dance is part of the College of Fine Arts at Florida State University.
