The Art of Florida Cartoonists showcases a wide variety of visual treasures created by cartoonists, illustrators, and storyboard artists who have lived or worked in the Sunshine State.
The National Cartoonist Society–Florida Chapter (NCS–FL) has partnered with COCA to bring this exhibition to the Artport Gallery. Artwork on display was selected from the NCS–FL permanent collection and includes nearly forty works by fourteen prominent artists including 2013 Inkpot Award recipient, Jose Delbo, and Pulitzer Prize-winning cartoonist, Mike Peters.
Attendees will get a rare behind-the-scenes look into the process of creating celebrated comic strips like Mother Goose and Grimm, Dustin, and Blondie, and see artifacts that helped bring family-friendly features like Lilo and Stitch and Woody Woodpecker to the screen.
The exhibition is presented by the NCS–FL as part of the organization’s mission to stimulate and encourage interest in and acceptance of the art of cartooning by aspiring cartoonists, students and the general public.
