Michelle Hearn, Senior Curator at the Museum of Florida History, explores how artists helped conceptualize Florida as a state while adapting their art styles and methods to its distinctive landscape.
From early artist-explorers John James Audubon and Harry Fenn to artists such as Martin Johnson Heade and A. E. Backus, she will discuss how these artists have visually interpreted the state.
The evening begins at 5:30 p.m. with complimentary refreshments. The presentation begins at 6:30 p.m.
Florida’s History Shop and the Museum galleries are open until 7:30 p.m.
