Marina Brown, writer, poet, musician, and artist among other talents will be the featured poet and writer at Big Bend Poets & Writers January meeting on Tuesday, January 14 at Barnes & Noble Books.
Marina Brown is a former professional ballet dancer, played cello with the Tampa Bay Symphony, and is a watercolorist who just completed a one-man show at the Gadsden Museum and will have another solo exhibit at the Lemoyne Gallery in the spring of 2020. She writes for the Tallahassee Democrat and a variety of magazines. Her third novel, set in Tuscany, a region Marina knows well, will be published in 2020.
First published in 2013, Marina’s debut novel, Land Without Mirrors, won the President’s Gold Medal from the Florida Authors and Publishers Association. Her 2017 second novel, Lisbeth, won another President’s Gold Medal for Literary Fiction from the FAPA, as well as the Silver Medal for Adult Fiction from the Royal Palm Literary Awards. Marina will be performing a reading of her newest release—a volume of poetry entitled, The Leaf Does Not Believe It Will Fall. This collection recently won a Silver Medal at the FAPA awards, and is a finalist in the RPLA.
