10 years ago, the Lofty Pursuits marching band was formed to play at this annual Market District community event. Back then the marching band had less than 10 musicians. Now it boasts as many as 40 musicians when it performs.

Not only was it the first year for the band, but it was the first year for Lofty Pursuits candy cane making. A lot has happened with these candy canes since then. They have gotten a world wide popularity, being featured first in Smithsonian Magazine, and most recently by Southern Living. People from around the world enjoy this Tallahassee tradition, and at this event locals can watch them being made live and in person.

They will be performing, and will be joined by A Tuba Christmas, an all low brass Christmas musical ensemble, and with the Tallahassee Flute Club, all playing live Christmas music.

Of course this is all joined with a proper Victorian Santa Claus, who’s been with us the past several years. He loves his Florida vacation just before his busy season. Keeping with the free tradition of this event, attendees can bring their cameras and take their own photos with Santa for free. He is available to get wish lists too.
